2024 LTP CHALLENGER CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP

September 30, 2024

A thrilling week of world-class tennis came to a close today with the Singles Championship match at the 2024 LTP Challenger. In a stunning display of skill and determination, 20-year-old Lithuanian Edas Butvilas claimed the singles title, defeating 19-year-old American Nishesh Basavareddy in straight sets. The victory marked Butvilas’ first Challenger title, and both players captivated the full house of over 200 tennis fans at the LTP – Mount Pleasant, showcasing the high level of ATP competition.

“We’ve seen such incredible tennis this week,” said Patrick Hieber, Tournament Director. “To have young talents like Edas and Nishesh battle it out in our final speaks volumes about the future of tennis. The energy from the crowd today was electric, and it’s truly special to bring this level of competition to the Charleston area.”

In the Doubles Final, fans were treated to a masterclass of doubles strategy and athleticism, courtesy of four talented Australian players. Continuing Australia’s rich history of doubles excellence—following in the footsteps of legends like Todd Woodbridge and Mark Woodforde, and more recently, 2024 US Open Doubles Champions Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson—the team of Luke Saville and Tristan Schoolkate emerged victorious. Their victory exemplified the depth of Australian tennis, securing the 2024 LTP Challenger doubles title in a hard-fought match.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Hieber added, “Our gratitude goes out to everyone who made this tournament possible—the players, the fans, our volunteers, and, of course, our incredible staff. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our partners at the USTA Pro Circuit and the ATP, and we’re already looking forward to making next year’s tournament even bigger.”
